You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
(Jeremiah 29:14)
Knowing someone and simply knowing about the person are two completely different things. The first speaks of intimacy while the second is only brushes the surface.
This first state is the one God desires we have with Him. This relationship forms the basis for our growth, stability and strength in this life. Every other road leads to a dead-end.
In perfect order because each one leads directly to the next, here are 6 steps to knowing God:
1. Encounter
This is an impactful, unforgettable experience that God gives. It can be as simple as a word from someone or as stunning as a supernatural visit. Still, the impact is the same: a closer relationship with God.
2. Revelation
This is a new insight about the character of God. His Word is filled with mysteries and as we draw near to Him through prayer, study and meditation, He unlocks them to us. They are the keys to the blessings we need.
3. Conviction
This is an unshakable persuasion about the unrivaled power and faithfulness of God and His Ways. No situation that arises can shake such a one from that belief. It is the point of being rooted and grounded in Christ.
4. Faith
An absolute confidence in God is born. It is without a shadow of doubt. It helps us consider already done what hasn’t yet manifested in the physical simply because God said it.
5. Actions of Obedience
Because we believe this firmly in Him, we are moved to obey whatever instructions He gives. Just like Abraham, we know that He surely has a bigger plan for us in spite of the toughness of the command.
6. Results
Here is the fun part. An avalanche of astounding and trans-generational blessings descends upon us from God as rewards for obedience. They are beyond human ability. This is raw proof to the world that our God is alive and good.
Understand that it is not a one-off process. God is willing to grant these experiences to us as often as we yield ourselves to truly knowing Him.
Make this a priority today and never relent in asking Him for this gift. God still enjoys answering prayers.
